Let’s start from the roots. Oluseye Desmond Sodamola, also known as DJ Spinall, traces his beginnings back to Lagos, the bustling heart of Nigeria. He’s the third of five siblings, and it’s here that he embarked on his educational journey. His primary and secondary school years were marked by his inquisitive nature and a love for music, which soon evolved into a lifelong passion.
With dreams in his heart and a mission to chart his course, Spinall ventured into Ogun State to pursue a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Olabisi Onabanjo University. The halls of academia did not stifle his musical calling but rather acted as the backdrop to his remarkable journey.
The year 2004 saw DJ Spinall’s first brush with prominence when he started working as a radio DJ at Raypower 100.5 FM. It was here that he honed his skills and began to craft his unique style. But he didn’t stop there. His hunger for knowledge and his desire to evolve as an artist led him to Tenstrings Music Institute.
Embracing his passion, he delved into the world of music promotion by joining Industry Nite, where he championed underground talents on a weekly platform. He skillfully navigated through the music scene, fostering emerging talents and leaving an indelible mark.
Graduating from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Spinall’s journey came full circle as he was awarded a degree in Electrical Electronics Engineering. However, his heart was already devoted to music, and he embarked on a musical odyssey that would take him to unprecedented heights.
Spinall’s career soared as he became the official DJ for Wande Coal during the artist’s affiliation with Mavin Records. He introduced a distinct style edge to his outfit, aptly named TheCAP, a nod to his cultural roots. TheCAP became synonymous with his persona, setting him apart in the world of music.
In 2018, Spinall embarked on “THECAPUS” 3.0 Tour, traveling to nine urban communities and taking his music to the masses. He has released three albums to date: “My Story: The Album” (2015), “Ten” (2016), and “Dreams” (2017). His achievements have not gone unnoticed. Over 2017 and 2018, he secured accolades such as DJ of the Year at the City People Entertainment Awards, Best Disc Jockey at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards, Best DJ Africa, and Best Collaboration at AFRIMA.
But what truly sets Spinall apart is his remarkable ability to blend and infuse various musical genres into a captivating mix. He is not confined to a specific style or sound but instead melds multiplicities of cool vibes into a breathtaking auditory journey.
